Here's a question for you guys....
Even though there are still a couple of months till the ened of the year, are there any albums that you just know will be your "album of the year"....
....I chose mine less than half-way through the year.... Dream Evil's "Book Of Heavy Metal".... I just have no idea where these guys keep getting their catchy melodies from! All the HEAVY METAL cliches rolled up into one album with some great production!
(Sorry Bill, this is sacrilege, but I'm sort of glad that Priest put back their album till next year, because I would have hated to have said that their album wasn't my year's best album....)
Dream Evil have created a perfect album that I can take to that desert island with me along with "British Steel", "Killing Machine", "Rainbow Rising" and a few others....

This has definitely been a great year for metal!!! There were 2 releases that really blew me away this year, Rhapsody's Symphony of Enchanted Lands II - The Dark Secret & Primal Fear's Devils Ground. These are 2 albums that I listen to on a regular basis, however, I would have to pick Rhapsody for my album of the year.
A VERY close 2nd would definitely have to be Primal Fear's Devils Ground.

I for one was hoping for the new Priest myself, but as they say, good things come to those who wait!!! ;D
Like Deb said, it was a very good year for metal. For my album of the year, I would have to say... Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden. I'm not a huge Tim "Ripper" Owens fan, but I think he fits in much better in IE than he did in Priest. Also, it's the 2nd disc, Gettysburg that really hooked me on this album, as I am a MAJOR history buff. Especially Civil War history.
Hey...between my love of history & my back problems, Jon Schaffer & myself have a lot in common!!! ;D
I do have to say that if I had to pick a 2nd choice it would have to be the latest Seven Witches album, Year of the Witch & I'm not saying this just because we're friends of the band, the album is just simply amazing!!!

Deb and Bill.... Those are ALL killer albums!
Isn't it great to be able to find it hard to choose a "best" album? That goes to show just how many superb bands are out there these days! I feel so sorry for all those people who are either ignorant or (worse) dismissive of the fact that HEAVY METAL is stronger than ever!
(It's also satisfying that Jack Frost is producing some memorable METAL, proving that he doesn't need a band like Savatage to make his name. I thought it was so unfair the way they treated him once Megadeth disbanded.... To be honest, I'm not that impressed with Savatage these days anyway, so I'm glad that Seven Witches is back making it's own waves.... Go Jack, GO!)
